Fiber Ships are the newest in the Grafton Fibers Spindle Line. They are shaped "kind of like a space ship" in the words of Tom's wife, Linda. They have great spin and spin a long time as well. We're awaiting a picture of these little beauties, but Linda tells me they sold very well at the latest fiber shows. We're proud to be bringing them to you! This is a great spindle for silks and fibers with short staple lengths.
Mala Spindles have a 2" whorl, are rim weighted, and are the next smallest and lightest in this spindle line. Pictured below is a Mala spindle in Holly wood with a Wenge shaft. This is a great spindle for those luxury fibers.

Swan Spindles have a 2.75 whorl and an 8 to 9 inch shaft. They weigh anywhere from 1 to 2.5 ounces, depending on wood chosen. This is a great all around spindle for spinning wools and blends. Pictured is a bocote Swan on a bocote shaft. Thanks to fellow spinner Elaine Harvey, I first learned to spindle on her Swan Grafton spindle.

Nina spindles are the largest, but still long spinning spindles in this line. They are rim weighted both on the top and bottom of the whorl, with a whorl diameter of 3 inches, and a 10 inch shaft. They weigh from 1.3 to 2.4 ounces again depending on the wood chosen. These beautiful spindles are great for beginners or for plying. This one has a tulipwood whorl and a paduk shaft.

| Navajo Spindles are supported spindles, and these beauties come in the standing or large size with a 36 inch shaft, as well as the smaller or seated size with a 16 inch shaft. The large spindles have a wood composite shaft as Tom found that wooden shafts tend to warp on these long spindles. Each size has a beautifully polished 4-5 inch whorl of exotic wood. | Nostepindes turned and polished by Tom are elegant and beautiful. They turn making a center pull yarn ball into an art form. The one shown below is Olivewood. Tom's Orifice Hooks are beautifully made with a selection of woods, and contain a handy yarn gauge right in the handle. He's placed both a 1/2 inch and a 1 inch gauge in the handle. Those shown below are of Purpleheart and chestnut. |
